Some Gold & Wool Will Make It All Better

As I continue on the Quest to Create an Interesting Wardrobe, I become more and more frustrated and confused. The set above is from Banana Republic. Not that I would wear these pieces all together, but maybe the necklace on its own when a neckline calls for it or just the earrings or the earrings and the cuff bracelet on occasion. I'm trying to find accessories, but I really want diamond earrings and a diamond necklace. (Interesting? Not really. Beautiful, timeless and functional? Absolutely.) Also, diamonds are a bit out of my budget right now. I wear gold, not silver, so this further complicates things; so many gold/golden things look tacky to me and I'm afraid that all of the above just might fit in that category. I want something interesting, but I'm just not sure if these pieces (even on their own) will work for me. If you have any ideas, please send them my way!!!

On to the next. I feel pretty confident, in general, about picking sweaters, but I would appreciate some advice. Please give me honest opinions about the below styles and colors. The first two are from Ann Taylor and the third is from Gap.

I LOVE the red buckle sweater, my only concern is that it will look frumpy on me. Also, I have a great red zip sweater, but it is a bit more casual. What do you think of the red one?

The oatmeal shawl collar sweater is OK. I think I like it, but I also think it looks a little old lady for me. (Not actually like a 'little old lady' but a little like something an old lady would wear.) They also have it in black, but do I really need another black cardigan? Quite possibly I do, but I'd like to branch out in the colors just a bit, even if I'm still in the neutrals.

The oatmeal crew collar sweater is, I don't know. It's just calling me. I feel like I need it. I obviously don't need two new oatmeal cardigans, so which would you choose if you had to pick one?

Do you like any of these sweaters at all? If not, I usually have better taste--I swear! For proof, I offer you my word that I have received two compliments on my sweater dress/calf boot outfit today. And no, I do not look like a hooker.

I love both oatmeal-colored sweaters. Love love love. I think gray is also a good color for that kind of sweater if you are looking to branch out beyond black.

I am not sure about the red sweater. I think that is one you would have to try on to be sure. I like the color, and I don't think it is frumpy though.

Oh, and I like the gold necklace and the cuff, but I the earrings are just an "eh."

Thanks for your opinions! I really like the necklace, so I'm glad I'm not alone in that. I'm trying to figure out jewelry for my event on Saturday, but I might end up just wearing my pearls and playing it safe. I'm still torn on the sweaters.

I like the top one and the bottom one. I've never had one with the wrap style like the red one, so I'm a little hesitant...But it's cute so it's definitely worth a try!

I love the necklace. In fact, I am now contemplating buying it.

I like the first two sweaters, but not the third. The second, oatmeal colored one would not look at all "old lady" with a modern lacy, ruffly or satin blouse underneath! With a turtleneck, notsomuch.

I'm not 100% sold on the red sweater. There's something about it that looks too heavy? I agree that it's definitely one that would require trying on. I really like the middle one.

I think the jewelry is fantastic. Especially the cuff - it's different without being too far out there.

I'm a bit surprised about the response the red sweater. I agree with you all and I certainly have my reservations about the fit, but I really thought this was 'the style' and people just loved it. I guess I was horribly, horribly wrong. I will be sweater shopping in the near future, so I will make stops to try on both the oatmeal ones and see if I can (to use R's word) "rock" them.

Glad my accessory taste isn't too out there. I might need to head on over to BR's site to place an order before I get to my post of the day. That's a good delay, because as of right now I have 3 very bad ideas for my daily post. Hopefully I'll find inspiration while online shopping. Come to think of it, this comment is long enough, I should have just posted this!

Okay KM, here is my opionion. The necklace is the bomb. Congrats on a great purchase.

Remember this is just my opinion, but I think the sweaters are boring. They are a lot like some other clothes you already own. If you're looking for a new look, I would try something a little different. I was watching GMA a couple weeks and they talked about having a couple signature pieces. Something to wear that would add a spark. Anthropologie has some great sweaters and jackets that you can wear with jeans or dress pants. I would suggest adding some colors taht you don't already own.

That being said, I think each of the sweaters would look good on you. Just not different.
